Students sit 1st ever CPEA Examinations

Grade Six students across the island ushered in a new era of assessment at the pre-secondary level, when some 2055 candidates from sixty-nine (69) primary schools sat the first ever Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) Examinations.

Administered by the Caribbean Examination Council, the CPEA replaces the Common Entrance Examination as the main assessment method for student for their entry into the Secondary level.

Minister for Education Hon Shawn Edward visited a few schools in the south, along with Permanent Secretary Michelle Charles, ahead of the first day of assessment. He welcomed this new era of assessment saying that it will serve the candidates well because of the introduction of the Internal assessment as part of the overall examinations.
